HOW TO MAKE
WHITE RICE

Arroz Blanco

White rice is an everday staple in meals especially in some Asian cultures and Latin American countries. This is also why some people have an assumption rice is very easy to make. The video above will show me teaching you how to cook rice without the usual trouble.

You’ll Need:

1 cup white rice

1 cup salt

1 tsp. Olive Oil

2 cups water

Optional:

1/4 cup raisins

10 cloves (as aromatics)

1 hot pepper

1 aji pepper

2First, you want to pour the rice with the chili and all the aromatics in there. Add a teaspoon of salt per cup of rice you’ll be using. Mix a little bit in the pan. That chili is going to toast itself a little bit and so is the rice. Add about a teaspoon of olive oil for every cup of rice. You’ll notice in a minute it’s going to smell like heaven.

You don’t have to add the aromatics if your children don’t like them, but it’ll be great for a special dinner or a Latin American dinner. If you take out the cloves and the chili, you’ll have regular plain white rice. However, with aromatics, you can turn a plain white rice into something exquisite!

3Once you’ve sauteed the rice for about 15-20 seconds, add two cups of water. Allow it to boil. Let it keep boiling for a minute and wait for the rice to rise very close to the surface of the water. This is when you want to cover it and leave it covered for 20 minutes in low.

Wait until it’s ready and then take out the aromatics: the cloves and the chili. Fluff up the rice so that they don’t stick together when served. And that’s how to cook rice that smells like heaven!
